ABSTRACT: Contingency analysis is one of the basic and important functions of modern electric energy management centers.. Branch (transmisson lines and transformers) outage simulations constitute the framework of the contingency analysis. In this seminar, I will present line outage simulations, basically for reactive power flows. Line outages will first be formulated as local optimization problems. The problem will later be solved for post-outage system variables.
