Topic: Implementation of Two-Stage State Estimation for Topology Error Identification
Time: April 11th, Friday at 3:00pm
Location: 119D ZEC

ABSTRACT:

Conventional state estimators can only handle the bad data in analog measurements. Incorrect information about the network model will lead to topology errors which are more difficult to detect and identify. A two-stage state estimation algorithm has been proposed earlier for the identification of topology errors. In this talk we will discuss some of the details related to the implementation of this two-stage algorithm. The performance of this algorithm relies on accurate determination of suspect substations after the first stage. A comprehensive identification procedure based on residual analysis will be presented. Following the identification, suspect substations need to be modeled in greater detail in the second stage state estimation. A concise substation model, which can be used in the second stage, will be described for this purpose. A friendly user interface that incorporates the two-stage algorithm into a conventional state estimator will be illustrated.
